About
Abhishek did most of his schooling in Mumbai. He graduated in Chemical Engineering from IIT Bombay (2009-13) and then did his PGDM from IIM Ahmedabad (2013-15). During his stint at IIM Ahmedabad, he did an exchange term at HEC Paris. Since 2015, he has been working with Bain & Company in Mumbai. His job entails a fair amount of travel depending on where his client is located.
Abhishek has always excelled academically. His extra curriculars at school and college included public speaking and writing. He also has a deep passion for football. He follows the game avidly and writes analyses/views/reviews on his blog.
He has a great sense of humour and uses it to effect in stand-up performances and event emceeing. He is good-natured and cheerful, knows how to laugh at himself and gets along well with most people. Widely travelled globally for work and leisure, Abhishek is very fond of (vegetarian) Italian, Thai and Chinese food – apart from Indian, and perhaps more than Indian!

Raj, Abhishek’s father, (hails originally from North Arcot), is a Mechanical Engineer from NIT Rourkela and a PGDM from IIM Bangalore. He has worked across FMCG, Financial Services, Real Estate verticals and has been consulting on his own since the last 8-10 years. Raj is a published author and mentor/coach to SMEs.
Mala, Abhishek’s mother, (hails from Palakkad, Kerala) did her BA in Psychology/Economics from Mount Carmel College Bangalore and thereafter PGDM from IIM Bangalore (Raj and she were batch-mates). She worked for several years in advertising, then moved to CRM and Loyalty Marketing and has also been consulting on her own since the past few years.
As a family we have lived across Calcutta, Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai. We have been in Mumbai since 1995. Since the past 15 years we have been living in our own home in Bandra West.
As a family we respect and follow basic religious practices and celebration of festivals. However, we are cosmopolitan, modern in outlook, believe in open conversation and frankly sharing opinions. We spend a lot of time together as a family – we have traveled abroad frequently on holidays and enjoy going out for movies and dining on weekends.
We truly believe that we, as parents, can only enable this process – the girl and boy must get to know each other well enough to make a decision on marriage and we will go by their decision.
